Some of you know that we went on a 2 week cruise.  Due to the failure rate of KnitPicks needles/cords, we brought MANY spare needles with us (no knitting stores on the high seas!).   What happened?  We came home with several “half” needles where the cord became divorced with the metal piece so that neither a stopper nor a needle could be placed at the end of the cord.

Yes yes…we know we can ask for a replacement.  Hiya Hiya wanted us to fill out forms and swear that we didn’t abuse the needle.   Come on…we wanted our needle to work, we didn’t purposefully or neglectfully remove the metal thingie from the clear cord!   And tell me…who would do such a thing when the only recourse is to get another?   Bye-a Bye-a to Hiya Hiya!  And frankly, if we reported every KnitPicks cord, we’d be calling every week and we’re tired of the cord failures.

Wilbur was mad when he realized how many needles were broken on the cruise.  So the girls started to scramble to prove that these broken things had value.   Finally, we found it…stitch holders!!!

We use a tight clip on the open end as a “stopper”, then use the needle end to add/remove stitches.  Our Geese need an inordinate number of stitch holders for our Des Colores sweater, which uses a 3 needle bind off to join the strips together.   It works quite well and makes us feel that we’re not wasting yet ANOTHER cord!
